Search Help
The text search engine allows queries to be formed from
arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR,
and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. The following are
examples of valid searches:
information retrieval
information or retrieval
information and retrieval
information not retrieval
(information not retrieval) and WAIS
web*
In the above examples. the "or" operator is
to specify search for pages with the first word or the
second work. The same with the "and"
operator, except both words must appear on the page found
The "Not" operator indicates to find pages
with the first word and "NOT" the second word,
so in the above example, only pages with the information
found on them that do not have the word retrieval on them
will be found.
Enclosing in parenthesis causes a search of items in
the parenthesis to be completed first.
Asterisks indicate a wildcard search
